Pressure mounting on Bolivia’s Morales

Is neo socialism flawed in its inability to bring a countries people together? ‘Bolivar’s dream’ is the mantra of the new revolution, but that dream was for these nations to come together as one. How is this possible if the leaders can not bring the people together? Change for the benefit of one group is often resisted by other unrepresented groups. So, is it possible for the region to hold hands when obviously there is little hand holding going on within the countries?

Bolivia’s socialist President Evo Morales continues to face political peril at nearly every turn, even as he enjoys enviable public approval in this politically fractured country.

Opponents have paralyzed his efforts to ”re-found” Bolivia — and reward the country’s indigenous majority — by winning approval of a new Constitution.

Bolivia cannot meet current contracts for supplying natural gas to Brazil and Argentina — the country’s biggest source of export income — and might not have enough gas to meet growing internal demand next year.

Social and economic tensions have mounted once again between Morales’ indigenous supporters in La Paz in the west and critics in the business-oriented state of Santa Cruz in the east.
